This Club held its annual National Event on the weekend of 6th to 8th September and the sun shone from start to finish. Lorraine and Phil organised this year's event, based around Blackpool and the Fylde coast. The base was the Villa Express / Fairfield Arms pub in Kirkham, just outside Blackpool where many of the group met up on Friday evening for a meal. The next day, everyone assembled in the hotel car park in readiness for a scenic drive that took in some winding country roads, stopping off at the Bowland Visitor Centre to display the cars and have a cuppa. The drive then continued to Fleetwood where we parked up again and had a wander round the seaside town. On the Sunday, we assembled again and headed off to the Blackpool Vehicle Preservation Group Car Show where our fine display of cars made quite an impression, with X1/9s easily outnumbering any other individual model. Overall, it was a wonderful weekend, with more than sixteen X1/9s in attendance over the course of the weekend. Let's hope we get just as much sunshine next year, wherever we may be...

This year's National Event was something a bit different, swapping the usual country roads for the streets of London. Martin Styles came up with the concept and put a huge amount of effort into organising the event, supported by the committee, so a big thanks to everyone who had a hand in it. The event was attended by cars from Germany and the Netherlands as well as the UK and took in Hyde Park and Brooklands as well as a dawn drive enjoying the sights of London. Click on "Read More" below for a few photos and look out for in-depth write ups in the Club magazine.
