Hi from Worcestershire/Gloucestershire! 1 month 1 week ago #41162

Hi there club members,

Just thought I would i introduce myself. I'm Rich Hill from Gloucester, I've got a 1987 D reg Bertone 1500 in Black 601 with red and silver pinstripes.

Car was my Dads, he bought it in 1991, so its been in the family many years. Only 42k Miles.

Hope to maybe make it out to Brecon this summer to see you all.

Cheers

Rich

I'm smack in the middle between Hereford and Worcester. There are quite a few X19s in the surrounding area!

Currently doing some work on the Exxy.

My Dad never really had time to do much to it, so getting some jobs done.

Have fitted new Bertone badges front and back, and new Bertone centre caps to the 'pepperpot' alloys. Luckily he had the alloys refurbished a few years back and new tyres, so they are in excellent condition.

Just doing some work to smarten up the engine bay. New HT leads, general clean, new carb fan duct and clips, new earth strap, as sometimes the starter just clicks (anyone else have that?), and a new K&N style filter with the Abarth logo on it (from Henk at X19 parts NL).

I'll get some photos up, how much can we attach, or a link to hosted photos better?

Thanks

Rich

Hi Richard,

You can attach photos up to 4MB on here.

One job that might be worth doing is replacing your fuel lines if they haven't already been done. Modern fuels tend to attack the old rubber in the original fuel lines.

It started off as a two tone VS (Champagne (taupe) over black), but has gone through a very slow 'refresh' by me, over the past 4 years. Paint is okay, but I'll probably do it again at some point.
Happy enough with it for now though and love to drive it when I can!

Thanks Andy, I'd heard that, I actually put a bit of ethanol 'eater' fuel saver stuff in the tank before winter.

It looks like a couple of the lines have been changed in the last couple of years, but there is still one original one with the black fabric covering on, so I'll change that.

Quick question - I cant remember whether I have to add any lead substitute to the fuel in the X1/9? I read somewhere its only going to erode the valve seats if you drive it very hard for long periods of time i.e. high speed motorway cruising.

Hi Ian, yep looks fairly similar to mine, black 601 with red stripes and pepperpot wheels. Mines a standard so I've got the grey pinstripe cloth seats and door cards.

Unfortunately not. Not the rugby player either!

Common name I'm afraid.
