I have just treated the car to one of those quick shifters from Croatia you can get on ebay.
Almost too nicely made to put in the car.

I've been tempted to buy one of these for a while. How is it when fitted to the car? Does the shift feel improved?

Yes. It hardly moves, at first I thought it wasn't moving but the gears are all there, no slack, just little movements. I had previously done up the rest of the linkage and the gearbox is good. It's so well made it was on the mantelpiece for a while.
The movements between gears are about 1.5cm.
