I'm considering buying a 1500 with a 5-speed box which I suspect has dodgy synchro on one or more gears. Last time I needed to get an exxy gearbox refurbished, it was £600, 30+ years ago. Does anyone with any more recent experience of gearbox refurbs know what sort of money a proper job would cost? Is there anyone in the UK still doing it?
Check out Nick Troth, there should be a little ad from him in the club magazines. Nick did my box back in 2021, It needed 3rd gear synchro and Nick also replaced a couple of bearings that were weak points. He knows X1/9s inside out.
