Good choice of car, interest is growing in them. What to look for on an X19 is nothing more than you would expect from a car over 30yrs old. Rust in the usual places, door bottoms, sills, wheel arches, all the floors as it's an open topped car - but no more than any other car of the era. If it's in regular use with an MOT then that should mean things are not seized up. If you can take it for a drive then you can double check brakes, how well the engine runs, gearbox, etc. Lack of use and being in less than ideal storage will cause you more problems. Parts are not difficult to source or expensive and from the photo's it looks okay.
If you buy it obviously the first job is to fit a turbo engine :)

Agree with Jon's comments above, reading the ebay posting it appears to have been dry stored which is always good. Check around the rear suspension turrets and the front suspension mounting points under the bonnet and then around the windscreen.
The price looks quite reasonable as well.

Personally I would leave it as it is and not put a turbo in and leave the lovely big bumpers on.
But hey, that's my opinion...

Definitely worth a viewing.

Good luck

Andy

I saw a very good condition white X19 at Stanford hall which had the big bumpers and I must say that it suited the car, some other colours don't seem to wear them that well. I would agree with Andy that if it is as good and original as you hope then for ease of use and holding it's value keep as is, or have a very clear plan of what you are trying to achieve - needless to say I don't follow my own advice ;)

make sure you check it over thoroughly as the mot is very short and you dont want any nasty surprises, but it is a nice looking standard x1/9 and a very good price if its as good as it looks in the pictures
