Digital Clock keeps re-setting was created by Nick
Hi guys
have been hard at work on the car amid spending a small fortune getting stuff I can't do myself done at the local garage - enthusiasts and cracking lot too!
Having finished what I hope is this years to-do list, and finally fitting new battery which I hoped would cure the last annoying problem, I find the digi clock is still zeroing out on start-up.
Could it be the clock itself? Touch wood, everything else seems to be working having even fitted new carb and rad cooling switches too.
I know it's a small prob, but annoying nonetheless after sorting everything else!!
Cheers in advance

Sounds like like starting the car is taking all the power and the clock thinks there is none. Therefore reseting itself. Have you checked battery connections and is the battery fully charged? ?

Hi Mark
Thanks for the reply. Yep, new battery and checked it's chucking out near 14 at the terminals. This problem was already happening before I changed to the new battery.
Regards

Might be worth getting a replacement clock, they do occasionally fail. They aren't too expensive and you can normally get them off ebay.

Does it happen only when the engine turns over or is it wrong as soon as you turn on the ignition? if the latter, there must be a permanent feed to it so it remembers the time. Could it be that a fuse has gone somewhere that powers that? or has somebody connected it wrong, to something that goes off with the ignition?

Hi Mike
Happens post-ignition. Had a fiddle with the connector behind the clock this evening and so far seems to have had some success. By using a long flat screwdriver I forced the male/female connector together which seemed loose beforehand, and all seems to be ok - so far!! Will be happily astonished if this really has solved the issue!!
