Hi David,

Very impressive work going on there!
Which struts and springs have you chosen and where did you get them from?
I am looking at replacing mine in the near future.

Cheers Chris.

Hi Chris,

Yes my little project is coming along nicely thanks....I purchased the McPhearson struts and springs from Eurosport UK I painted the struts again to give them some extra protection, the springs are reduced by 35mm.

Cheers Dave

For some reason I'm not able to load pictures. This was going to be a question and a cry for help.

I know I've put these in another thread, but I thought I'd keep it all together as one package. Its been going on for about 4 years now. Its nice to be in that position of putting it all back together. I've been looking at all the bits I've taken off and decide whether to replace with new or try and salvage and recondition if possible.

The carpet I removed was too far gone so I replaced it with a new but not original, and I purchased new door seals from Henk Martens in Holland they were not cheap but I wanted the correct ones.

I still have many more items to replace, I keep looking at all my old parts and just can't bring myself to putting all this old stuff back so it's taken a bit longer than I wanted looking for new or nearly new parts.

I look forward to the day when my good lady and myself are able to enjoy some outing with the club meetings.

I stripped my gear box down this year and replaced a few components.

It was a bit grubby needed a good clean.

Then I started to dismantle the thing.

Fifth gear was in good order.

I had to remove the indent balls. next

Starting to remove the main casing.

The reverse gear needed replacing.

I also replaced all the bearings and put new seals in. Everything else checked out, its all but back together and ready to go back on the engine!!!

A few more pictures of the dismantled gear box.
Removing the selector rods.

The two main shafts the big beast has 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, the thin rod holds reverse idler gear.
Second gear was not in the best of health so this was replaced.

Hi David
How long did it take you to repair/rebuild the gearbox? Are any special tools needed?
Jeremy

Who needs 4th gear anyway...

Hi there

looks amazing and youre doing a great job. I was lucky to find an 88 model that was completely solid underneath and only a few areas requiring replacing.

Thank you for sharing.

I am now being featured in the club mag along with my journal

Happy motoring mate

Hi Jeremy,

Absolutely no special tool were used to take it apart and put it back together again. Even removing the bearings on the main gear shaft was a piece of cake I'd do it again if I had to that's how easy it was. I just took loads of pictures for reference. It didn't take long to sort but I did have a short break from because other stuff got in the way.
