Bodywork restoration in Nottingham was created by Mark
Could anybody recommend a restoration company or mobile restorer (if such a thing exists) in the Nottingham area? I bought a 1300 at the beginning of 2017 with the view to carry out the full restoration myself. Car is stripped and on a rotisserie in my garage, I have replaced the windscreen surround and had some help from David Fisher on the underside.
Unfortunately due to work commitments and a change in personal circumstances I am struggling to find the time to spend on it, also bodywork / welding is not my forte!
My options are to either pay to get the bodywork done or throw the towel in and sell up, the car is too good to go for parts though.
The car has rust in all the usual places but is by no means beyond repair.
With the car being stripped it would suit somebody mobile.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ant at
www.rustrepublic.co.uk/
has my 1300 waiting for a full resto job. He specialises in VWs (particularly Sciroccos, which is how I got to know him) but is interested in all older cars and always keen to diversify (I know he's had a Tatra in recently, for example). He's a friendly, honest and reliable chap and will do an excellent job. Based in Calverton (nr Hucknall).
He'd need the car at his place though - he could help with recovery etc.

Thanks Edmund, I have found somebody local to me who is going to take it on.
It’s going in February / March next year, hopefully should have it back in the summer painted ready to be reassembled. Good luck with yours.

Hi Mark,
Sorry I've not been in contact, I've been meaning to check up on you and your progress. Sad news to here your not able to do the work due to other commitments. But good to know you've found someone to do the work for you. I was hoping to help out more with you, however a job opportunity came up within my organisation, which meant changing from a four on, four off shift, to a Monday to Friday post. Good job I got most of my work done before hand, as I have had less time to work on my car at the moment.
I'm hoping to put the motor in, in the new year, going to get a new radiator made as I don't think my old one will last long so I'm not going to waste my time with it. I'm working on my doors at the moment...I bought a new door skin for the near side I wish I never bothered what a waste of money...the door was completely ruined. I had to find another at considerable cost.
Lets keep int touch if there is anything I can do to help let me know...we're only a stones throw away.
Dave

Hi Dave,
It’s been a frustrating few months, so busy with work I’ve not had time to do anything to the car and now we’ve accepted an offer on the house so I’ll be losing my nice big garage in the next few months. It was either throw the towel in or pay to have the work done, at least this way I can make a start on overhauling the mechanicals.
Sorry to hear about your door, it’s so easy to spend money on these cars, I’m just pricing up repair panels for when it goes in.
Let me know if you’re working on it at the weekend and I’ll pop over to have a look how you’re getting on.
