Hi All.
Bertone X1/9 1987
Radiator completely rusted. Vanes turned to dust! Unsure whether to have radiator recored or to buy new from China. Chinese ally one with 40% more capacity available for £135. Recommendations from the wise see please. TIA

Hi Linus,
I have previously had mine recored. And it's still going strong.
That would be my preference rather than going with a cheap aluminium one.
I think others have in past used a VW Scirrocco radiator as well? This was aluminium and required a bit of fettling to get it to fit, but gave improved cooling and a bit of weight loss.
(I can't remember exactly whether that is the model or not. Hopefully someone else will comment)
I could bore you all day with cooling issues, but suffice to say, recoring or replacing the rad cures 80% of cooling problems.
For me, the original one recored cools the car well enough and keeps it to temperature. Regular flushing out of the system helps as well.
Cheers
Andy

Totally concur with Andy.
My rad was in an awful state, that was what 28,000miles did to it! Anyhoo, I took mine to a very old school rad shop and picked it up a few days later. Like new, no much nicer than new! Cost me £168 back in 2019 and still working well. Oh, and it fitted like it had just came out.
